Friday Site Visits
Each Friday, students visit sites around Northern Ireland and encounter the history and culture they are exploring in classes.
Sites may vary from semester to semester, but have included:
- Belfast – The Peace Wall, The Shankill and The Falls Roads, Belfast City Hall, St. George’s Market, Crumlin Road Gaol, Titanic Museum, Stormont (Parliament)
- Dublin – National Art Gallery, Dublin Castle, Chester Beatty Library
- Derry/Londonderry – Guildhall, Bogside and Museum of Free Derry, Tour of Walls, Peace Bridge
- North Coast – Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede, and towns along the coastal road
- Carrickfergus Castle
- Tollymore Forest, Newcastle, Dundrum Castle, Grey Abbey
- The Seamus Heaney Home Place
- Patrick’s Sites – Saul, Downpatrick Cathedral, Inch Abbey
- C. S. Lewis Sites - St. Mark’s of Dundela, East Belfast Lewis walking tour

Are the site visits mandatory?
Yes, Friday site visits are just like a class and students are expected to attend unless sick.
Do site visits cost extra?
Tours, museum entrances, and meals during site visits are covered by the program costs. Students may wish to have extra money for souvenirs or extra snacks.
