Church Attendance
Students will visit local churches’ Sunday services together not only at varying denominations as an introduction to faith and practice in Northern Ireland but also attend a ‘host church’ for the remaining Sunday services in the term. Some are very traditional, with liturgy and traditions from centuries past, while others are more contemporary. Each Sunday service is discussed upon return to Lakeside Manor and provides not only spiritual encouragement but also an academic and personal understanding of faith and practice in Northern Ireland.
When attending the host church, students will often be paired up with a church family with whom they go home and eat Sunday lunch. This is a great time for the students to learn more about the Irish culture and the wonderful people in the community.
Household Responsibilities
Students are divided into teams and given basic household responsibilities such as cleaning the public spaces of Lakeside Manor and helping with meals.
Travel Opportunities
Students have three free weekends during which they can travel and explore. They often travel to other parts of Ireland or to other countries, including Scotland, England, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, etc.
We encourage students to plan and travel together. Students must inform their guardians of intended travel plans. Please do not book travel plans during these weekends before your arrival or without consulting the ISP director, Scott Jones.
(Students have also been known to take advantage of last-minute cheap Saturday flights to a nearby country, explore for several hours, and then return to Lakeside by midnight curfew.)
